Magic in the Mosh Pit
The Home for the Wonderfully Weird
Why good afternoon, Rascals!
Sorry we’re a lil’ late, Meemaw whisked us off on a surprise Florida “reward trip,” and forgot all about time zones (fine… we overslept after three straight days of Disney magic and Warped Tour chaos, but don’t tell nobody, we’ve got street cred now.)
Between pixie dust, palm trees, and parking-lot mosh pits, we were reminded that magic and community shows up in all kinds of places, even if it’s loud, sparkly, or covered in festival dust.
This week’s issue is fulla that same good weird energy: our Warped x Disney detour, a look at this Wednesday’s TEDx Chattanooga “Rooted” lineup, a sweet list of Scenic City events, and Clementine’s take on findin’ your people in the middle of the mayhem.
Open this pit and get ready to stage dive into this week’s issue, ‘cause we gotta fun one for ya today.
Today's Issue Includes:
Make sure ya pop this tune from Orlando-based band Magnolia Park into yer Spotify while ya read along. it ain’t no Powerline, but it sure was a blast!

This week’s Community Spotlight: TEDx Chattanooga this Wednesday!
What do a soil scientist, an anaplastologist, and a National Geographic storyteller have in common? Besides soundin’ like the setup to one of Meemaw’s Thanksgivin’ jokes, they’re all speakin’ at TEDx Chattanooga this Wednesday at the Walker Theatre: along with a whole crew of talented folks that keep this city curious.
This year’s theme, Rooted, feels just right for a town that’s been growin’ and changin’ while still holdin’ tight to its community spirit. The lineup is stacked with people who dig deep into their expertise; whether it’s into the earth, the human body, big ideas, or the stories that shape us.
And we’ve gotta holler a special porch-sized “heck yeah!” to our friend Krisi from Alter Eco Farms, who’ll be talkin’ about soil thingies (as usual), and what it really means to grow things that nourish people. She’s the real deal, through and through.
What we love most about TEDx is how it puts dreamers and neighbors all in the same room. Folks who might never cross paths, but are all rootin’ for a better Chattanooga. It’s its own kind of quiet magic that happens when people show up to learn from one another.
If you’ve been lookin’ for a spark this week, or just want to cheer on some incredible locals, this Wednesday’s the day for you. There’s still tickets available, so hop in quickly before the house is packed! If ya see us yappin’ around in between sessions, don’t be afraid to say howdy!

Bubby and Clem Take on Vans Warped Tour
Alright, I’ll fess up right here on the porch: I’ve always had a soft spot for loud music.
Metal, punk, alternative. Basically, if it makes yer molars vibrate, chances are Meemaw raised me on it. That woman could go from hymns to heavy riffs faster than you can say, “OOH WAH AH AH AH”.
When she whisked us off for this lil’ Florida getaway, I figured the surprise was somethin’ sparkly at Disney. And don’t get me wrong, I love them magical characters. Started geekin’ when I saw Kevin flappin’ her wing. But Meemaw had one more trick tucked under her cardigan.
She took us to Warped Tour. At Camping World Stadium. No warning, no hint, just: “Keep them boots laced, Bubby. We ain’t goin’ back to the airport just yet.”

Warped Tour is a textbook example of community fer all folks from all kinda backgrounds! Photos courtesy of the Warped Tour Facebook Page.
And wouldn’t ya know it, A Day To Remember was on the lineup. One of my all-time favorites. Somehow I ended up right in the thick of the crowd for their whole set, sweatin’, hollerin’, and feelin’ sixteen again.
Now here’s what I love about scenes like this: For all the noise and elbow-to-elbow chaos, it’s one of the kindest communities you’ll ever meet. Folks passin’ water back to strangers, makin’ room for the lil’ ones like myself, and checkin’ on each other when the crowd swells. You fall? Ten hands pick ya up before yer knees even hit the dust.

And the nonprofits out there — such as HeartSupport, a nonprofit started by the lead vocalist of August Burns Red Jake Luhrs — were doin’ real good work. People gettin’ help and hugged without judgement, just folks doin’ life together in between their favorite bands. That’s the kind of magic ya can’t bottle.
Disney had fireworks, but Warped Tour had heart. And somehow, standin' in that sunbaked parkin’ lot filled with noise and kindness, I realized both kinds of magic matter.
If ya wanna see what shook my bones last night, here’s the whole shebang:

Clementine’s Corner: It’s Not a Phase, Mom
BREAKING NEWS: At the time of writing, this journalist is reporting live on scene from none other than VANS WARPED TOUR. I came on vacation with Bubby and Meemaw for the Disney day (which was ✨positively magical✨, by the way), but as it turns out, Meemaw is a rock ‘n’ roll grandma. A crowd surfing queen. Seriously, stay out of her way in the circle pit.
I’m just excited to see all those oldies from the 2000’s… Boys Like Girls, We the Kings, All Time Low… iykyk. And then, even though this has been the most epic weekend of all time, I’m ready to come home.
I’m serious! I just miss Chattanooga! Pickle’s there, and all my favorite people and places. I miss Downtown, walking around Frazier and Coolidge. I miss the views of the Tennessee River. I can’t wait to see the mountains and trees and feel that chilly fall breeze.
Oh yeah, that’s another thing. Orlando is hot. How do people live here??
So that’s a lil look at what’s going on at Chattynooga outside Chattanooga. I gotta go find Meemaw and Bubby though. They just started stiff arming to the front when A Day To Remember hit the stage.
See ya back home, pals!

No Encores Here, Y’all!
That’s the whole shebang for this week: a little pixie dust, punk dirt, and good folks showin’ up in the chaos. From Warped Tour crowds to TEDx thinkers, it’s clear magic finds its way to ya when community’s close by.
Thanks for ridin’ along with us, even on the weeks we’re runnin’ a tad late and sunburnt. We’ll see ya next Monday — bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and back on the porch!
