This week’s Community Spotlight: Show up with us, Neighbor.

On Sunday, November 1, we’re helping host Chattanooga’s Out of the Darkness Walk at Coolidge Park. Check-in starts at 10 AM, and the walk begins at 11 AM.

Y’all have already shown up in a massive way: we’ve raised $10,096 so far, compared to the $2,937 we had last year. That’s mighty encouraging, and what we’d love most from our Chattynooga neighbors now is your company.

Join the Chattynooga team and come walk with us. Registration is free, and you can come in memory of somebody, in support of somebody, or because you’d like to be among people who care.

You don’t have to explain your reason to belong there. We’d just be glad to see ya and be part of the conversation.

Deep Thoughts with Bubby: Be there (and be square)

I am excellent at sayin’ “Oh shoot yeah pardner, I’ll be there!” on a Tuesday. Thursday Bubby however is… a squirrelly little fella.

A neighbor invited me to their first community craft night she’d put together. She’d been tellin’ me about it for weeks, and I really did wanna see what all the hub-bub is about. But come Thursday, I was on the couch with one shoe on, trying to decide if Meemaw could leave without me. My neighbor would be busy running the dang thing, what if I got in the way or messed something up? Maybe she’d have one fewer person to worry about if I stayed home.

Then Clem hollered from the doorway, “Meemaw’s already got the van started. Are you comin’?” Rude how well she knows me.

So I went. My neighbor set out paint, paper, and a whole gaggle of supplies she’d gathered for people to do as they please. Before I could ask if she needed help moving a table, she started showing me around all the different stations, which idea had started the whole night, what she’d changed at the last minute, and what she hoped folks might make together. So rather than huntin’ for a job to do, I enjoyed myself for once. And everyone had a blast.

When my brain starts tellin’ me folks might be better off if I stay home, I tend to also figure out if I’m just hungry or if I need a little snooze before heading out.

I nearly missed something that someone else was excited to share with me because I was so worried about being useful rather than celebrating the talents and gifts someone brings to the table instead.

I’m still learning to believe folks when I get invited to hangout sessions, and also getting better at showing up, paying attention, and coming back.

Clementine’s Corner: Flu Szn

I’ve got the flu and I don’t have a lot to say. Here’s a list of good things.

If you’ve got something good of your own to add, lemme know. It’ll cheer me up!

Love ya, Chatty. 🫶

What a Terrific Tuesday Talking (say that three times fast!)

Every week, y’all make this little corner feel more like neighbors actually knowin’ neighbors.

Take care of yourself this week, and we’ll see ya next week as always!
